Only the canvas objects of group nodes are nested according to their depth in the node hierarchy.
Remarks
All leaf nodes are top-level in the nodeGroup.
All edges are top-level in edgeGroup.
Group nodes are combined by their hierarchical depth (i.e. the number of their ancestor nodes). For all nodes having the same hierarchical depth, an ICanvasObjectGroup is added to the groupNodeGroup.
